Mirbala Salimli
Film Director__
The film director Mirbala Salimli was born in Azerbaijan in 1963. He graduated from the Faculty of Film and Drama of the M.A. Aliyev State Culture and Art Institute of Azerbaijan in Baku and from the Faculty of Theatrical Direction of the B.V Shukin High Theatre School in Moscow (with honours) in 1995.
Between 1985 and 1998, Salimli worked as an actor, production director and Director-in-Chief of the S. Rahman State Drama Theatre in Sheki, Azerbaijan. In 2001, he studied at the Faculty of Film Directing in the Higher Courses for Film Writers and Directors in Moscow (in the workshops of Alexey German and S.I. Karmalita). Finally, in 2003 and 2004 Salimli went to Switzerland and Germany thanks to the Swiss “Avanti” program, where he studied directing under Zanussi and script-writing under D. Benke.
